Registration Options
AAOS recognises training programs offered by training providers, which offer supervision training that meets AAOS Training Standards.
Training providers are invited to apply for registration of their training program/s with AAOS as a ‘Recognised Supervision Training Program’ (RSTP).
AAOS has two (2) Categories for Recognition: Theory and Practice (Full Program) and Theory Only program.
Category 1
Theory and Practice (Full Program)
Category 1. Theory and Practice (Full Program) – this is for programs that offer comprehensive supervision training programs,
including an extensive practice component over a two year duration.
Graduates of this program are eligible for full supervisor registration following graduation (see AAOS membership requirements for further details).
Category 2
Theory Only
Category 2. Theory Only – this is for programs that offer ‘theory only’ supervision training programs over a 6 month minimum duration.
Graduates of this program will have further supervision requirements to gain full supervisor registration, over a two year period (see AAOS membership requirements for further details).

- During the participant’s training period they may apply to become a member of AAOS as an Associate Member (see requirements).
- Trainers and Supervisors in the training program may also take up membership of AAOS at the appropriate level.
- The fee for recognition of a training program recognised by AAOS is $440.00 per annum.
- Training Programs must register each year with full documentation.
- Audits are carried out regularly to ensure standards.
- Any change in training standards will be communicated directly to training organisations with a transition period.
